Tim Lincecum Was a Playoff Beast and Hopes San Francisco Is Smoking

Friday, November 5th, 2010

Tim Lincecum smoking
Was there a better pairing between player and city than Tim Lincecum and San Francisco? The diminutive pitcher went from Cy Young winner to World Series stud with stellar pitching in October. Lincecum tossed eight innings of one-run ball allowing just three hits while striking out 10 in a Game 5 win over the Rangers. He went 2-0 in the World Series, beating Texas stud Cliff Lee twice.

Lincecum was 4-1 in the playoffs with a 2.43 ERA, .188 batting average against, 43 strikeouts and just nine walks. He beat Derek Lowe, Roy Halladay, and Lee both times making this article look foolish. Timmy went head-to-head with some of the best pitchers in baseball and beat them all to win the World Series.

Asked after the clincher how he hopes San Francisco would be celebrating he answered “Just a lot of craziness I’m hoping. Lot of beer flowing … smoke in the air I’m hoping …”

With the way Giants fans have been acting throughout the entire World Series, I’m sure there was plenty of smoke in the air. And like I said, he fits in with the team perfectly. Lincecum should take some time to celebrate — he certainly earned it.

Neetu Chandra Had To Smoke Cigarettes For Aadhi Bhagavan

Friday, October 29th, 2010

Neetu Chandra
Actress Neetu Chandra had to smoke a few cigarettes for Aadhi Bhagavan though she has an aversion towards it, as the scene demanded. As a matter of fact, Neetu Chandra is paired opposite Jayam Ravi in the film directed by Ameer Sultan. The shooting for the film is going on in full pace in various locations in Bangkok.

As usual Neetu was on the sets with her make-up on only to learn that she has to smoke a cigarette for a scene. Since she hated smoking, she pleaded to do away with the scene. But, on the insistence of the director, she had given her nod to it. And because she was a bad smoker, she smoked some 30 cigars that day. She defended saying, “The number of takes is immaterial and the perfection in the scene is all that matters.”

Cheryl Cole is trying to quit smoking

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

Cheryl Cole quit smoking
X Factor judge Cheryl Cole is trying to quit smoking, she has revealed. As she filmed her forthcoming episode of Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, the popular singer revealed that she is already cutting down on the amount of cigarettes she has a day. As reported by the Daily Mirror, Cheryl tells Morgan in the yet to be screened interview: “I’ve managed to get myself down to four cigarettes a day. It’s my one vice, but I want to stop smoking completely.”

Cole has often been spotted sneaking off for a crafty cigarette break with X Factor show boss Simon Cowell and her habit is said to have gotten worse since her split with husband Ashley in February.

If Cheryl is serious about kicking her habit, but struggling to give up the final few cigarettes, she should consider using stop smoking hypnosis. The technique works by retraining the part of the mind where old habitual smoking behaviours are kept.

By eradicating self limiting beliefs such as ‘smoking helps me to relax,’ the hypnotherapist would replace such thoughts with healthier strategies which Cheryl could use to feel mentally calmer and relaxed, instead of reaching for a cigarette. The method provides long lasting results and has been used by a number of celebrities including Natalie Imbruglia and Kate Moss.

Kristen Stewart Smoke cigarettes while cameras shoot

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

Kristen Stewart Smoke
Kristen Stewart isn’t going to get role model of the year by any means, especially after the photos that surfaced last night of the ‘Twilight’ star smoking while being photographed. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were out in Hollywood last night eating sushi and enjoying each others company (which would be called a date) until the paparazzi arrived.

At that point, when the cameras started flashing, she lit one up and started smoking. Notice in the video how she is inside with out a cig, but once the photographers are there it becomes a vice that everyone has to see.

As young girls of all ages idolize this Twilight actress, it is quite startling to see how she completely disregards everything of the fans and thinks only of herself. Anyone else who is a celebrity that did this would have severe image issues, but since this is a ‘Twilight’ actor who has fans who think it is cool to smoke, it doesn’t seem to bother anyone as older people know she is lashing out.

It has been proven scientifically that peers who smoke actual encourage their counterparts to do it as well. Kristen Stewart has an additional obligation as an actress to be a decent role model for young adults and teens everywhere.

Epic failure is the only phrase that can describe her actions of smoking in front of the cameras yesterday.

Check out the video inside the restaurant (no smoking) and then the photos outside. It is like she wants to be known as a rebel, however as we know cigs only cause cancer. Rebels get that too.

Charlie The Smoking Chimp Dies at 52

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

Smoking Chimp
Charlie “The Smoking Chimp” dies at age 52 in a South African Zoo. Charlie started his famous (or infamous) smoking habit after zoo visitors began throwing cigarettes into his enclosure at the zoo in South Africa that Charlie called home. Zoo officials claim that the smoking did not contribute to the death of Charlie, and that Charlie lived ten years past the normal life expectancy of chimpanzees. The claim is that the Charlie simply died of old age. An autopsy will be preformed on Charlie, and the full extent of any damage his smoking habit had on Charlie.
You can read more about Charlie, the smoking chimp, and his famous habit below. Feel free to leave comments on the story below, and be sure to check out the video of Charlie.

Zookeepers in South Africa, in discussing Charlie’s death, stated that Charlie received special care, “including protein shakes, vitamin and mineral supplements” but died of old age. There are some conflicting reports on how much Charlie smoked, and where he picked up the habit. There is now talk of having Charlie’s body stuffed and keeping him as a future zoo attraction.

fter the outcry from the public who saw videos of Charlie smoking became too great zookeepers decided to force him to quit. Generally it is estimated that less than 10 percent of wild chimps live past the age of 40, so for Charlie to reach 52 years old is quite the feat. So, what do you think about Charlie the smoking chimp, and his death at age 52? Feel free to leave your comments below.

Katherine Heigl smoke Electronic Cigarette to Kick Habit

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

Katherine Heigl smoke
Katherine Heigl is a quitter. The actress, who left Grey’s Anatomy earlier this year, is trying to quit her smoking habit the hi-tech way. “I use an electronic cigarette,” Heigl, 31, tells Parade.com. “I know it’s ridiculous, but it’s helping me [avoid smoking] real cigarettes. You feel like you are smoking, and you get to exhale but it’s just water vapor and not nicotine. I’ve been doing it for six months.”

“Smoking sucks!” exclaims the Life As We Know It star, who has an adopted 22-month-old daughter, Naleigh, with her musician husband Josh Kelley.

“The one thing I would say to my kid is, ‘It’s not just that it’s bad for you,” adds Heigl, who claims cigarettes aren’t all that fun in the first place.

“‘Do you want to spend the rest of your life fighting a stupid addiction to a stupid thing that doesn’t even really give you a good buzz?’”

PHOTOS: Her worst hair disaster ever

Heigl even puffed on a “smoke stick” during her appearance last Monday on the Late Show With David Letterman. She told David Letterman about how her smoking habit began in the first place.

“You start once a week, maybe with cocktails with friends at a bar…And then you buy your first pack during a really stressful breakup and then it’s downhill from there.”

PHOTOS: How celebs stay healthy and trim

Before e-cigarettes, Heigl futilely tried just about every other remedy on the market, she told the late-night comic: the patch, chewing nicotine, even the prescription medication Chantex.

Only the “smoke stick” seems to work for her, she said. “You’re not harming anyone around you and you’re not harming yourself. I’m essentially humidifying the space.”

Electronic Cigarettes smoke hollywood stars

Friday, October 1st, 2010

smoke hollywood stars
There are around 46 million Americans who smoke tobacco, and according to the health department more than 1,000 people die every day of smoking-related illnesses. These glaring numbers have led to the ingenious discovery of the E-cigarette – a pragmatic way to quit smoking for those who can’t.

Now the electronic cigarette is taking Hollywood by storm! Just recently, actress Katherine Heigl of Grey’s Anatomy fame showed off her electronic cigarette while appearing on the Late Show with David Letterman.

A smoker since her early 20s, Heigl said she has tried everything to quit smoking, from nicotine gums and patches to smoking cessation medicines such as Chantrix, but none of them worked.

Other celebrities who have been seen puffing an e-cigarette include Leonardo Di Caprio, Kate Moss, Paris Hilton, Kevin Connelly, Twiggy, Posh Spice, Kevin Federline, Naomi Campbell, Britney Spears, Eric Roberts, Simon Cowell, Sarah Harding, Taryn Manning, Rhys Ifans, and Tom Petty.

How does the e-cigarette work? Inside what seems like a regular cigarette is liquid nicotine that is heated by a battery-powered atomizer. When inhaled, the e-cig produces a vapor mist to satisfy your tobacco craving and evaporates within seconds, eliminating the dangers of second hand smoking. Of course, without the smoke, you can now puff away even in restricted areas such as planes and elevators.

It is widely believed that the additives in tobacco, not nicotine, is what’s causing lung cancer and emphysema. Because the e-cigarette contains pure liquid nicotine, manufacturers are branding this product as a safer way to smoke because of the absence of tar and other harmful chemicals found in traditional tobacco.

Katherine Heigl Smoke Sticks

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

Katherine Heigl smoke
Actress Katherine Heigl, 31, best known for her role on “Grey’s Anatomy,” broke out her electric “smoke stick” Monday night while appearing the “Late Show.” She told David Letterman she’s tried everything to quit smoking, and this is her latest effort. A smoke stick is a cigarette substitute that heats the liquid nicotine inside with a small battery-powered atomizer.

Are smoke sticks, a.k.a. electronic cigarettes, as bad for you as cigarettes?

The jury is out.

Dr. Alan Blum, who directs the University of Alabama Center for the Study of Tobacco and Society, tells CBS News there is a lot to debate.

In principal, says Blum, smoke sticks are less harmful, because they deliver “just a little bit” of vaporized nicotine without the harmful combustion by-products one gets from a real cigarette.

In addition, there is little second hand smoke to worry about.

But smoke sticks are poorly regulated, and the FDA is working to reign them in. Recently, the agency sent warning letters to five electronic cigarette distributors for making unsubstantiated claims and for having poor manufacturing practices.

Heigl, who started smoking in her early 20′s, is trying to be as healthy as possible now that she is a mom (she adopted a girl from South Korea last year). She’s tried nicotine gum and patches and the prescription medication Chantix, according to the New York Daily News.

Smoke sticks seem to be the only thing that works for her.

Forty-six million Americans smoke, and smoking-related illnesses kill 1,000 of us each day.

Cigarettes and alcohol caused cancer: Douglas

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Douglas smoking
Veteran actor Michael Douglas has blamed years of drinking and smoking for causing his throat cancer. “I smoked cigarettes and I drank alcohol a lot and this particular type of cancer is caused by alcohol…but it’s been a long year and I do think this is stress related,” contactmusic.com quoted him as saying.

Michael got to know about his throat cancer last month and is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments.

Douglas admitted his lifestyle choices played a part in his illness. The 65-year-old also believes the personal crises he endured over the last few months may have been a contributing factor.

Douglas’ son Cameron was jailed earlier this year on drugs charges.
